Studies on light and weather resistance

In addition to the development of new composite materials and material compositions, there is also a great deal of expertise in the field of textile and materials research in the design and surface area as well as in the functionalisation of surfaces. One focus here is the investigation of light and weather resistance using various methods, from small-area surface samples to larger components in sunlight simulation chambers or climate test chambers.

Further work concentrates on resistance to a wide range of media, from cosmetics to cleaning and care products to operating fluids and lubricants. From simple bearing tests with visual assessment to the characterisation of surfaces as a function of frictional and scratching stresses using a wide range of testing equipment to downstream mechanical characterisation, a wide range of options is available in the individual laboratory areas.

Methods for testing thermochromic or photochromic effects as well as various surface finishes are also developed by qualified personnel.
