Process development

In addition to known and established manufacturing processes, new and special methods or manufacturing processes for the production of fiber composites are developed at the TITK and supported until they are ready for series production.

Examples include:

  • Granule manufacturing process for difficult to dose reinforcing fibers and recycled man-made fibers
  • Extruded sheets and profiles with local long fiber reinforcements
  • One-shot process for back-injection of fiber composites with integrated functions or decorative component surfaces
  • Direct processing of long fiber reinforced thermoplastics (LFT-D) for near-net-shape part production
  • Direct deposition of reinforcing fibers in 3D contours for the development of components with great design freedom as well as local reinforcements
  • Load-oriented component design through special winding and stacking processes
