Microtomy

Microtomy is a process in which thin layers can be separated from specimens by cutting them with diamond or stainless steel knives. This generates virtually defect-free surfaces for examination under a light or scanning electron microscope. Simultaneously, the sample can be pre-examined with an integrated microscope to find a suitable spot for microscopy.
