The department "Textile and Material Research" has the longest tradition in the TITK starting with the foundation of the Institute of Textile Technologies of Chemical Fibres in 1954.

Consistently the work contents have been redefined and adapted to the requirements of the industry. Central subject of the work has been and keeps being the characterisation, processing and application of fibrous materials. In the past primary it was focussed on applications in the apparel industry, today the focal point is on Technical Textiles and Fibre-Reinforced Composites. Thereby it is our principle that the material, process and technology developments form one scientific unit.

The department "Textile and Material Research" succeeded to combine tradition, know-how and innovation for the benefit of our clients. It is acting as a R&D-service provider with top-modern equipment for the needs of the industry.
