The physical group is focussed on the following themes:
- development, characterisation and application of active organic
nanolayers and nanolayer-composites and of functional, protective
and barrier layers on substrates of polymers, ceramics and metal for
generating and optimisation of effective and cost-effective surface
and interface properties
- micro structuring and technologies for micro-processing of material
as well as laser induced modification of polymers and contribution
to 3D-MID-technologies using laser-technologies
- development of technologies for "up scaling" of developed micro
techniques of polymer engineering for scientific-technical preparation
of the industrial production of new polymer based field-effect transistors,
integrated switching, sensors, actuators and solar cells as well as
components and modules for application in information, communication
and media technologies, in micro-electronics, micro-systems, medical
and traffic technologies, "role-to-role"-technologies and
- characterisation of morphology and microstructures of polymer moulds,
fibres, films, layers and components of polymer electronic and micro
system technologies using optical and electron microscopy, comprising
the confocal 3D-white light microscopy, electrical, dielectrical,
optical and photometrical measuring methods, ellipsometry, infrared
spectroscopy and fixed and time resolved electron spin resonance (ESR)-spectroscopy
