Despite the difficult state of the overall economy, TITK was once again
able to record a positive financial result in 2009.
Income totalled €9.95 million, whereby at €2.32 million, the share of
this income accounted for by business turnover fell slightly as compared
to the prior year. Additional operating income was generated through funding
by the Free State of Thuringia (€725,900), the German Ministry of Economics
and Technology (BMWi - €4.17 million via the InnoWatt programme, special
funding programmes for start-up research and infrastructure modernisation,
and the IGF and ZIM programmes), the German Ministry of Education and
Research (BMBF - €931,700), the German Ministry of Food, Agriculture and
Consumer Protection (BMVEL - €248,700) and the EU (€174,700). The state
of Thuringia and the BMWi thus remain important sources of funding for
TITK, accounting for a combined total of nearly 80% of all institute subsidies.
Expenditure in business year 2009 totalled €9.82 million, as opposed to
€8.86 million in 2008. This increase was primarily due to a significantly
higher level of investment activity, as investment volume in 2009 totalled
€2.47 million (2008: €1.86 million).
We would like to offer special thanks to the organisations that supported
our investment activities by providing a total of €1.9 million (BMWi:
€727,500; the Thuringian Ministry of Economics, Labour and Technology:
€690,800; BMBF: €476,500). The earnings result for business year 2009
was €110,600 (2008: €33,900). This result has led to an increase in the
institute's capital base to €214,800. TITK employed 115 people on 31st
December 2009 (31st December 2008: 116).
