Materials development involves semifinished reinforcing textile products (nonwovens, fibers, filaments) as well as the production of fiberreinforced composites and the modification of composite properties. Here, composite manufacturing processes such as compression moulding, injection moulding and winding are used along with the TITK’s own process developments – for example, procedures for manufacturing textile granules for injection moulding applications. Promising developments are refined until they have reached the semiindustrial state in order to simplify their implementation in large scale processes.

Here also extensive technology developments and optimization activities are carried out that lead for example to the creation of impact-modified natural fiber composites through the use of corresponding fibre mixtures.

Successful implementation of innovative ideas is ensured by the knowledge, skill and proficiency of the textile and plastics engineers and chemists (particularly with regard to fibre-reinforced composites), as well as by a range of technical and testing equipment almost perfectly tailored to the customers needs.
